Expo in May...

And while I'd definitely say it's early to act like I'm ready for a seat on the 'artist alley' yet, I feel like my styles definitely coming into it's own...

I've found a nice way of working with sketches on GIMP so that very little of the pencil shading is lost.
I have to admit I rushed towards the end (couldn't wait to reach 'show and tell') but i'm gassed to say the least ^_^

Next steps to slap this on my deviant art account and get to work on something else
(might even have to change that gaudy wallpaper, the animal prints making my left eyebrow drift upwards )

Lazarus, obviously...

There's nothing like trying to regain momentum after a lengthy absence from 'routine' eh?

Rather than throw around big words like 'sabbatical', I'm going to stick with my favoured modus operandi of pretending nothing happened.

Back, furthermore not fussed if you haven't missed me, in the studio, at the sketchpad daily, Bizzy as ever yo ;) watch this space!

While I'm at the keypad, I'd be wrong to not holla at my circle, so here's my bruddah Kasaskie with a banger! We've got time though, I'm not even trying to rush...

Newham Arts Development Foundation...

Recently I managed to get myself into a 'media consultancy' position, with the Newham Arts Development Foundation.

As the media guy my job description is 1) create a blog to showcase the results of this project, and the work of Newham based artists. 2) Manage / optimise the success of the NADF Twitter & Facebook 3) Bolster youth participation 4) Help enrich the NADF's summer program (specifically in terms of more urban art-forms such Music and Graffiti)

Their mission statement is: To bring all artists, arts organisations and professionals in Newham together. We support artists working across all art forms by creating a platform to help them develop their creative ideas and showcase their work.

The 1st thing I have to do is this blog.
As a basic concept for the banner I thought...
of Using a map of London as the main focus.
The idea is basically, to have the site based on a white colour scheme with coloured accents. Thus the banner will be white, with all of the other boroughs replaced with a montage and Newham and the Thames both being red. The idea being to imply that Newham is the heart of London.

Anyway, I'm mid doing it now - so you'll soon see what I mean.

Ok...

More from Will Kay and his OddKingdom brand!
This time it's his takes on a few UK Brands

Set to the sounds of 'Dot Rotten', this whole 'watch me work' style video,
is one of the things that sets Will ahead of the competition,
in terms of style and ingenuity ...

Big look, for both Will and the brands featured!

*Note: I will update this again tomorrow with more links etc*

Another Legend Gone...

I just heard...
RIP Gregory Isaacs

We've lost yet another legend.
Reports say that he died in his London home, afer having suffered from Lung Cancer.
All of us real music fan's will miss you!

Stroke of genius...

This post isn't about the last Batman film to be released, although it was brilliant. It was such a great film mainly because Heath Ledger stole the show. The role of the Joker was played out with enough style and charisma to make him feel like an Anti-Hero...

"Why so serious!?!?"

Really good catchphrase eh.
Here's a simple answer to it though...

"why so serious!?!",
"because eventually people will have to take you seriously".

Giselle is very serious, Bailiff levels of serious.
She is a versatile and driven Make-up artist with plans and structure to match. Her 'hustle' is both strong at grassroots level, and online. She is on both Facebook and Twitter so you can have a look at what she does, also her website is nigh on completion.

A major part of my respect for 'her grind' is built on her understanding of the build then diversify school of thought. Like Will Kay whom I wrote a previous piece on, Giselle has plans on more than just the prizes you'd immediately associate with her 'particular ballpark'.
'Shugah' can sing some too... but that's a different blog post lol.
Just know this, even if...

your eyes are shut to this portion of the Media/Art/Fashion world, it doesn't matter.
For the moment, Giselle can remain a 'TTKK thing'.
Work rate and dexterity breed success. So it won't take her too long to be where she wants to be.
If you only know her name when it's unavoidable, so be it!

Friends, Roadman's, Countrymen,

Will Kay... OK!!

Will used to run in High School... Now he runs the Artwork based side of the scene. I was priveleged enough to be in a High School year group that was filled with 'young legends' the most visible of these probably Will Kay and DJ 'Maximum' McCabe of Roll Deep and Boy Better Know fame, personally I think they're was alot of onus to be ambitious and educated amongst our peer group at Rokeby, it was hard to be a top boy if you were 'Dumb'.
We were always told that Alexander McQueen was the most prolific export of Rokeby, and it makes sense that many (not just in my year group) have sought to change this and add their name to some kind of 'Pantheon of Legends'. It's necessary to 'Salute!' so I shall accordingly, watch out for other coming pieces.

They won't forget Will's work. Soon enough you will have to recognise his hustle, he's driven and organised with a diverse portfolio. With everything from photography, drawings and flyer design under his belt, he is already encroaching onto fashion, and I have a sneaky suspiscion he is already constructing a scheme to be all over the oppurtunites the 2012 olympics may bring.

Friends, Road mans, Countrymen, I present to you WIll Kay - the man sitting in the ODD KINGDOM throne.
